At ekoloko, the well-being and safety of our users is our top priority.
As parents ourselves, we are committed to providing an environment where children feel safe and secure and where their privacy is of the utmost importance.
To that end, we have developed and utilize a combination of tools to ensure our users enjoy maximum privacy and safety on our site:
- Ongoing education – we leverage all the means we have at our disposal to continually communicate and demonstrate the rules of conduct and why they are important.
- Clear and immediate punishment – the rules are strictly enforced and once a rule has been violated, we implement a variety of kicking and banning options that will leave no question that we mean business.
- Technology – we utilize advanced real-time tools that prevent users from entering inappropriate words or personal information when chatting. This chat monitoring mechanism is comprised of a black list (bad words) filter and a white list dictionary of approved words users can choose from. This technology also enables us to focus in on problematic users, and features manual and automatic banning options.
- Live moderation – a professional and experienced team of moderators, supported by trusted Rangers (loyal and experienced users who have proven themselves and received special training) move around the ekoloko community reminding users of the rules of conduct.
- Open channel of communication – we maintain an open channel of communication with our users and their parents.

In accordance with the guidelines set out by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not collect any personally identifiable information from our users without prior parental consent. Our chat implements strict language filters and advanced white listed chat technology that offers a dictionary of approved words from which users can choose.
