About ekoloko

At ekoloko, we created the world we wanted our own kids to grow in; a world that is safe, supportive and encourages positive behavior and values. The journey your children go through as part of the ekolokian community creates an environment where taking responsibility, friendship, leadership, acceptance and awareness are not only big words but also values one can live by. The ekoloko Rangers program reinforces these positive values by encouraging users to become more responsible and active in the community, giving them the opportunity to help and guide other and newer members to the site, and help us keep ekoloko a world where every user can feel at home.

It was important to us that users could take what they learned at ekoloko and apply it to their real lives. We work hard to keep our virtual world “real” by basing the story and narratives on environmental and social themes that demonstrate how kids can make a difference and help protect the environment in their own personal lives and communities. To that end, when developing the building blocks of the content for ekoloko, we consulted with a pedagogical committee comprised of doctors in the field of science education, to ensure that the content would be informational and educational.
